Becoming a Pastor | Forming Self and Soul for Ministry, Revised & Updated (Hamman)
Revised and updated edition of a best-selling leadership and ministry guide.
Foundations for Ministry
Whether you're a pastor or church leader, says Hamman, you're called to do the following for yourself:
- develop a deeper sense of inner security
- nurture your imagination
- embrace your dark side
- become aware of your emotions
- see others as they really are
- engage in life with a sense of playfulness
Hamman equips you to do all of the above and more. Get ready for a transformation in your personal ministry and in your relationship with God ... and become the best pastor you can be!
According to fellow clergy and scholars, Becoming a Pastor should be required reading for:
- Anyone preparing for a church vocation (Carol L. Schnabl Schweitzer, associate professor of pastoral care, Union Presbyterian Seminary)
- All of us who nurture intergenerational communities and ministries (Gregg A. Mast, president, New Brunswick Theological Seminary)
- All who are following God’s call into a vocation of ministry, whatever form it may take (Nathan Carlin, assoc. professor, University of Texas Medical School)
- Anyone in ministry at any time in ministry (Verlyn. D. Hemmen, Allina Health Spiritual Care and Pastoral Education)
All clergy—seasoned or just beginning in ministry—will be enriched by Hamman's insight and wisdom in Becoming a Pastor.
